
Tours in the Bribri Territory
The BriBri are an indigenous people of Costa Rica. Today there would be around 15,000, they live in several small towns in the southern part of the Cordillera de Talamanca, in Costa Rica. The BriBri people are one of the oldest and most powerful tribes in the country. After almost disappearing (due to being absorbed by the Hispanic culture), the BriBri have been refounding their communities respecting their customs and traditional life. Conical House Tour (Bribri temple)

• Transfer from the Ditsöwö Ú project in the Bambú community to the canoe port in Suretka. The Telire River is crossed with traditional canoes. Then we travel about 20 minutes to the community of Amubri where the usury is located: the conical house and workplace of the spiritual leader of the community.
• You will join an introduction about the Bribri culture and its ancestral traditions. You will have the experience of sharing with the indigenous community and an Awá: spiritual guide/shaman. They will tell you about the culture, tradition and stories of the creation of the universe according to the Bribri worldview.
• You will have the opportunity to grind on sacred stones. They make products such as coffee, cornmeal and cocoa, among others.
• You will enjoy a typical Bribri snack with chocolate and homemade bread baked with firewood.
• Return to the port and transfer by canoe to Bambú.

Cocoa and Chocolate Tour

• Tour along the Telire and Sixaola rivers in a traditional canoe to an organic cocoa farm on the border with Panama.
• You will take a walk through the farm and the jungle to learn about the cocoa fruit and taste its pulp. You will learn more about its traditional cultivation and its importance according to the Bribri worldview. You will learn about the complete process of making chocolate, for example the fermentation and drying of the cocoa beans.
• Walking around the farm you will discover the typical vegetation of the area and the construction materials of indigenous houses such as suita leaves, chonta and others.
• After the walk you will be able to participate in the traditional way of preparing chocolate and taste this local product.

Indigenous Organic Farm

• Travel over the Telire and Sixaola rivers in a traditional canoe.
• Visit to an organic farm located on the banks of the river and surrounded by primary forest. A variety of local products are cultivated such as bananas, plantains, corn, cassava, yams, beans, etc. that are used for self-consumption by families and the Ditsöwö project Ú.
• There will be a walk along a farm path during which you will learn more about the cultivation of these products and you will also be able to participate in the harvest. You will also get to know different medicinal plants used by the community.
• Apart from experiencing a typical farmer's day you will be able to enjoy the natural environment, bathe in the river pools and observe a great variety of flora and fauna.
• Return to the accommodation by canoe.

Medicinal Plants

• Starts at Ditsowo u, Lodge.
•There will be a walk, approximately 2:30 minutes, seeing medicinal plants along the mountain.
• Landscapes and history of the Bribri community and clans.
• They will arrive at Aventuras Sé Yamipa, located in the Yorkin Community.
• Explanation of vegetation and natural history of the place, care of the forest and introduction to the culture and its traditions by the lady in charge and her partner.
•Walk through the primary jungle to see different species of trees and special animals of the Cordillera de Talamanca.
• Travel in a Traditional Canoe from the community of YORKIN to where the trip began.

• Rubber boots or comfortable shoes for the walk.
• Food that gives a lot of energy for this walk
(7 days of walking minimum), cookies, gatorei or energy drinks, soups, parboiled rice, sugar, salt and other things.
